Smart alerts for real weather

Your station is watching. Now make sure it can reach you.

WeatherLink’s built-in alarms send email — but SMS is only available on select couriers, leaving most users in the Philippines without real-time mobile alerts. WL Alert closes that gap: connect your Davis station, set your thresholds, and get SMS and email notifications that actually reach you.

Why WL Alert

What WL Alert does that WeatherLink can’t

WeatherLink’s built-in alarms are a solid start — but they stop short of dependable mobile delivery in the Philippines. WL Alert adds the layer that reaches people when it matters.

Connects to Your Existing WeatherLink Account

No need to replace anything. WL Alert plugs directly into your WeatherLink API and pulls in your registered Davis stations automatically.

Custom Threshold Rules

Trigger on any metric your station reports — heat index, temperature, humidity, wind speed, UV, or rainfall. You define what is critical.

SMS Alerts That Work in the Philippines

WL Alert uses its own SMS gateway, so you get mobile alerts on any Philippine network — Globe, Smart, DITO — without courier restrictions.

Custom Alert Messages

Write your own message templates with dynamic placeholders — station name, current reading, threshold, and trigger time are filled in automatically.

Full Alert History & Analytics

Every alert is logged. Review which rules fired, when, and under what conditions — a complete record of your weather events and responses.

Email and SMS Together

Send alerts to email and SMS at the same time, with multiple recipients per rule so your whole operations team gets notified at once.

Simple by design

Set up in under 5 minutes

If you already have a Davis weather station on WeatherLink, you’re most of the way there.

01

Connect Your WeatherLink API

Enter your WeatherLink API credentials and WL Alert instantly pulls in your registered stations — no complicated setup.

02

Create a Threshold Rule

Choose a metric, set a condition, and enter your trigger value. Example: Heat Index greater than 42°C.

03

Add Your Recipients

Add the email addresses and mobile numbers of everyone who should be notified — multiple recipients per rule.

04

WL Alert Watches. You Get Notified.

The moment a threshold is crossed, your alert fires — email, SMS, or both — telling you exactly what happened.

The difference

WeatherLink alarms vs. WL Alert

Same station. Same data. The difference is how far your alerts can travel.

Five minutes from connecting the API to receiving my first SMS alert. That’s faster than figuring out how WeatherLink’s own email alerts work.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about setup, compatibility, alerts and SMS delivery. Can’t find your answer? Reach out through our contact form.

What is WL Alert?

WL Alert is an independent alert notification platform built for Davis WeatherLink users. It connects to your existing weather station, watches for your custom thresholds, and sends SMS and email alerts that WeatherLink’s built-in SMS cannot deliver in the Philippines.

Why doesn’t WeatherLink’s own SMS work in the Philippines?

WeatherLink’s SMS delivery is tied to a limited list of approved network couriers. If your mobile network or country isn’t on that list, the SMS option doesn’t appear or fails to deliver. WL Alert uses its own SMS gateway, so alerts reach any Philippine number — Globe, Smart, and DITO.

Is WL Alert a replacement for WeatherLink?

No. WL Alert is a complement, not a replacement. You keep using WeatherLink exactly as you do now for dashboards and data — WL Alert adds a dependable mobile alerting layer on top of your existing station.

How is my data and API key kept safe?

Your API credentials are stored in encrypted form and are never displayed in full after entry. They are used exclusively to read your station data through the official WeatherLink API.

Does the recipient need to install an app?

No. SMS alerts are delivered as standard text messages directly to the recipient’s mobile number. No app, no internet connection, and no configuration required on their side.

Will I get repeated alerts if conditions stay above the threshold?

WL Alert includes cooldown controls to prevent alert fatigue. Once a rule fires, a cooldown period activates before that same rule can send another alert, so you stay informed without being overwhelmed.
